§ 2.06. Mayor pro tempore.

  • The council at the first regular meeting, and after the newly elected councilmen have taken office following each regular election, shall elect from its membership a mayor pro tempore for a term of two (2) years. Upon the council's failure to elect a mayor pro tempore at its first regular meeting in January, the incumbent councilman who received the highest number of votes, when last elected, shall be declared mayor pro tempore. The mayor pro tempore shall perform the duties of the mayor during his absence.
