§ 12-46. Designation of crosswalks, safety zones, and traffic lanes.
(a)
The city is hereby authorized:
(1)
To designate and maintain, by appropriate devices, marks or lines upon the surface of the roadway, crosswalks at intersections where in its opinion there is particular danger to pedestrians crossing the roadway and at such other places as may be deemed necessary.
(2)
To establish safety zones of such kind and character and at such places as may be deemed necessary for the protection of pedestrians.
(3)
To make lanes for traffic on street pavements at such places as may be deemed advisable, consistent with this chapter and other traffic ordinances of this city.
(b)
Crosswalks, safety zones and traffic lanes shall be established and appropriately marked at any places designated in sections 12-1010, 12-1011, in addition to those otherwise authorized by this section.
