§ 12-111. Variance procedure.

(a)

The city council, at its sole discretion, may vary from the procedure or standards set forth herein for any reason.

(b)

Additionally, a resident of an affected street may request, in writing, that the city council grant a variance from the procedures or standards set forth in sections 12-101—12-107 of this article. Once a written variance request is filed with the city, the city shall hold a public hearing to determine whether the variance should be granted. Notice of variance hearings shall follow the procedures in use at the time for providing notice for rezoning matters. After the conclusion of the variance hearing, the city council may then vote to approve/disapprove installation of speed tables in the study at its sole discretion, following the procedure for amendments to ordinances.
