§ 12-1013. Prohibited parking in evening hours.
(a)
That parking shall be prohibited on the following street between the hours of 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. any day, except as provided for in this section:
(1)
No parking on both sides of Church Street from the intersection of Church Street and Tennessee Street to the intersection of Church Street and North Dixie Avenue.
(b)
That parking shall be prohibited in the following areas when posted by twenty-four-hour notice, and any vehicles parked in the areas listed herein are subject to towing and all costs associated therewith and a fine of one hundred dollars ($100.00) for violation of this section:
(1)
The parking area bounded by Public Square on the West, Church Street on the North, CSX Railroad on the east, and Cherokee Avenue on the south;
(2)
The parking lot on the southeast corner of Cherokee Avenue and Erwin Street;
(c)
Additionally, in the parking areas defined in subsection (b) of this section, the city authorizes the downtown development authority and/or the city manager to close said parking areas for scheduled events downtown as authorized by the downtown development authority or mayor and city council.
(1)
In the event a scheduled event requires the closing of the parking area, the city and/or downtown development authority shall post signs at the entrances and exits of the parking areas stating the date and time during which said parking area shall be closed, at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to the scheduled event.
(2)
If any vehicle is parked in said parking areas in subsection (b) of this section during the prohibited time, said vehicles are subject to towing with all costs assessed to the vehicle's owner and a fine of one hundred dollars ($100.00).
(d)
The restrictions on parking provided for in subsections (b) and (c) of this section are not applicable to vehicles owned by the City of Cartersville.
