§ 22-61. Apportionment; due date.

  • In all cases where the streets, sidewalks, squares, public lanes or alleys of the city are graded, paved, macadamized or otherwise improved or the travel therein improved, the costs of the improvements shall be assessed as follows:

    (1)

    One-third ( 1/3 ) of the cost shall be assessed against the real estate abutting on one (1) side of the street, and one-third ( 1/3 ) of the cost shall be assessed against the real estate abutting on the other side of the street.

    (2)

    Curbs and gutters, sidewalks and storm drains installed along city streets at the request of the owner of the abutting property shall be paid for as follows: residential property, two-thirds ( 2/3 ) by owner and one-third ( 1/3 ) by city; commercial and industrial property; entire cost by owner.

    (3)

    The aforementioned assessments shall be due thirty (30) days after billing.
