§ 5-2. Purpose and intent.
The purpose of this chapter is to provide for the humane treatment of animals by regulating the care and control of animals within the City of Cartersville; to provide for the classification of dangerous dogs and potentially dangerous dogs; to provide for the investigation of cruelty to animals; to provide for emergency procedures pertaining to sick or injured animals; to provide appropriate restrictions on the keeping of animals, including number and minimum land area; to provide standards for the care and treatment of animals; to provide for enforcement of these provisions; and to promote the public health, safety and general welfare of the citizens of the City of Cartersville by restricting nuisances, and preventing unwholesome, unhealthy or unsanitary living conditions for animals.
