§ 12-37. Public works director to place and maintain.

The public works director as directed by the council shall cause to be placed and maintained traffic-control signs, signals and devices when and as required under this chapter and other traffic ordinances of the city to make effective the provisions of this chapter and such ordinances. He may cause to be placed and maintained such additional traffic-control devices as he shall deem necessary to regulate traffic under this chapter, other traffic ordinances of this city, and state law, or to guide or warn traffic.
